Beginning 8th semester

Friday I just ended my 7th semester on Studio Context and today I am starting my 8th semester on Studio MAD (Making Architectural Design), and I feel relaxed and ready to get started with something new.

This year will all be about interactions, robots and cybernetics. The final assignment will be to make some kind of interactive installation in 1:1 at the couartyard in Nørreport 20, at Aarhus School of Architecture.

I chose this studio because it operates in the scale between furniture and pavillions. It's very much about making everything in 1:1, making prototypes and learning and experiementing with materials. I don't know yet what I am to think about this very hi-tech approach the studio has taken this semester though. Usually I'm all for handcraft and traditional craftmanship and honest and raw materials. But I've decided to keep an open mind and think about it as a new material and technic I will learn and then eventually when I know more about it I can decide whether it is usefull for me and my further design developments.
