Casting Workshop VIII
Yesterday we made the pieces ready for chemical treatment and today we applied it. At first I was a little dissatisfied with the fact that we could not just let bronze be bronze but had to apply chemicals to give it another look. Fake patina you could call it. We used Svovllever (black) and klornitrat (green) and heated it to spead up the oxidation process. The parts were polished afterwards and beewax was applied to stop the chemical process to evolve further. I must admit that the end result of the treatment looks like bronze and looks quite good. I still think though that it might be more poetic just to let the bronze gain the patina naturally.
